You have a fantastic mix of ideas here. Between the two of you, you’re covering almost every major quadrant of making money: passive assets, active services, scalable products, and specialized skills.
Let’s break these down by how they actually function in the real world — looking at the upfront effort required versus the long-term payoff.
Your Partner’s Avenues: Creative & Spatial
These options lean heavily into aesthetics, physical spaces, and craftsmanship.
| Idea | Type of Hustle | The Reality Check |
|---|---|---|
| Renting an Apartment | Passive Income / Asset | High upfront capital (or lease arbitrage risk), but highly scalable once automated. Airbnb requires heavy hospitality work unless you hire a property manager. |
| Making Paintings | Active / Product | Low overhead, high time investment. Finding a distinct style and audience is the hardest part. Prints and digital downloads scale better than originals. |
| Making Light Fixtures | Active / Product | High margin. Custom or artisanal lighting is a premium market. Requires prototyping, material sourcing, and understanding basic electrical safety standards. |
| Interior Design | Active / Service | High earning potential. Can start as low-stakes consultations (e.g., room mood boards) and scale to full-service project management and contractor coordination. |
Your Avenues: Technical & Educational
Your list is a blend of high-leverage digital skills and direct human-to-human coaching.
| Idea | Type of Hustle | The Reality Check |
|---|---|---|
| Software Job | Active / Career | High stability, high ceiling. The most predictable path to strong cash flow, whether full-time or contracting. |
| Trading / Algorithms | Active / High Risk | Capital intensive. Requires a deep edge to beat the market. Algorithmic trading removes emotion but requires rigorous backtesting. |
| 3D Printing | Product / Service | Hardware intensive. You can sell custom parts, miniatures, or practical fixes. The machine runs passively, but post-processing and shipping take time. |
| Personal Training | Active / Service | Time-bound. You trade hours for dollars locally. Can scale heavily if you transition to online programming or group cohorts. |
| Teaching English | Active / Service | Low barrier to entry. Platforms like iTalki or Preply make it easy to start, but rate ceilings hit quickly unless you niche down (e.g., Business English for tech execs). |
| Coaching | Active / Service | High margin. Whether life, career, or fitness, coaching requires strong marketing and personal branding to land high-ticket clients. |
| Creative Workshops | Community / Scalable | High leverage. Hosting events or building a paid community combines both of your skill sets. You can teach design, painting, or 3D printing together. |
Weighing the Trade-offs
To help you both prioritize, experiment with this matrix to see how these different models align with your goals for time freedom and income.
Key insight: The most powerful businesses often combine your lists. For example, you could run 3D printed components for her custom light fixtures, or use your software skills to build algorithms that market her interior design workshops.
setup - my weakness was that i wanted to make them laugh, i wanted approval, and i want to be appreciated. BUT I found myself in a particular place (specifically) the university brainwashed young students that haven’t faced the real world yet. and were indoctrinated into a kind of projecting on me (being a white straight man) that I’m somehow a colonizer, misoginist and so on - things that were trendy at the time to throw on white men. my weakness was i wanted a community that would honor me. and i had to go very far away to find it - particularly because i didn’t know how to address it in that medium directly. i only knew how to antagonize that herd further. and it would happen again in my travels and adventures before i figure it out.
the wilderness cost me my career, all my savings, over 200 grand, cost me settling down, buying a home, it cost me the lows of travelling solo… getting a stomach bug over christmas in mexico and not being able to leave a hotel bathroom for 3 days, going just to buy electrolites and calling my mom wondering if i was gonna die. it cost me swimming in large waves in the ocean being beaten by wild waves until almost drowning. making my peace with death at the bottom of a huge barrel just before the ocean deciding to spit me out… it cost me my mind… going deep into psychedelics, depression, self-doubt, and clawing my way back. it cost me friendships… people going against me when i didnt follow the script.. ot seeing others along the way that didn’t make it… due to mental health issues, not fitting in… giving in to addiction, or self harm. the wilderness is not for everyone… but those who make it back have something they can never lose.
I believe i am fighting a “dark army” to borrow from Mr Robot. There is an army of “agents”, both human, AI, and ethereal beings that what my energy, attention, and defeat. They want me to give up and just get a job, just to feed off my disappointment. I want to give it a name and explore this enemy. I can call him Natas (satan backwards) for now - the ruler of the dark army. He is the master of fine print. of contracts. of tying people into endless commitments… and then putting off their dreams on tomorrows that never come. Natas is a kind of dark doppleganger that has infinitely more power and resources than me. employs corporations, and intelligence institutions against me and those who are like me. those who dream of being free. He controls all data, all machines, all communications that happen on the wire. he controls all money and institutions and makes the rules in a way that they don’t apply to him. I wonder if it’s better to leave this enemy nameless… The idea is that it’s not a religious enemy… it is a soul level enemy and it is in part Me. as in I’m aware that Natas controls a voice in my head that often time sounds like me. My self pity, my self doubt, my blues of having to wake up and face him day after day. my isolation around people who don’t notice him and seemingly don’t fight with him. knowing that they are his doers… his slaves. Natas Is the Dark King.
- being booed made me realized i was surrounded by these agents controlled by new media, constructed narratives, and i knew they could overpower me, take away my rights, speech, thoughts even, and make me like them… an obedient slave. i had to run… quietly.
- i ran out of money, i took a project restructuring a business for an old friend. i almost stepped back int o consulting and marketing because of that - the light was that he betrayed me… and so i was spit out of the system again.
- so far I have been silent. writing in cafes, moving from country to country, not settling and not doing anything “specific” to establish myself or to conqueor my enemy. I have been playing small… in fear that revealing the light on this system would have me disappeared, destroyed or hurt the ones i love. I do feel that I am observed. watched. spied on. by more than just “the government” and AI. It is a spiritual spy. Standing up now will definitely draw the attention of the dark army and their king. but it’s time. and I will face them with the magic that I acquired along the way. hopefully it’s enough
Phase 1: The Inciting Incident & The Vulnerability “It started with a room full of people turning on me. I was on stage in Ottawa doing comedy. Back then, my biggest weakness was that I wanted to be liked. I wanted approval and community. But standing in front of a mic, watching young university students project the trending cultural sin onto me, at that time it was colonizer opression and the metoo movement, I realized something terrifying: they weren’t reacting to me as a human. They were acting out their programming. They were operating on autopilot, bound by a narrative that demanded total compliance. And the worst part? I realized my desperate need for their validation was keeping me trapped in the exact same cage.”
Phase 2: The Wilderness & The True Cost “So I left. I walked away from a traditional career, took everything I had saved, and went into the wilderness. For years, I drifted, aimless. But the wilderness isn’t a romantic getaway—it demands a toll. It cost me over $200,000, my career, and my sanity at times.
I know what it’s like to spend Christmas isolated in a foreign country bathroom wondering if I’d survive a bug, or to make peace with dying at the bottom of an ocean wave before being spat back out. I experimented with a lot of things—psychedelics, meditation, Jiu-Jitsu, even cults—and watched friends along that aimless way fall to addiction or mental breakdowns when they couldn’t endure the void. But surviving that aimlessness is where my magic comes from.”
Phase 3: The Trap & The Epiphany “At my lowest point and out of cash, I thought I’d try a comeback. I stepped into a corporate consulting gig—until a close friend betrayed me on a project, spitting me right back out of the system. That was the universe telling me there was no going back. And reminding me why I left.
I realized there’s a machine built into modern society—an invisible architecture of media algorithms, institutional debt, and psychological pressure designed to keep you playing small, exhausted, and dependent. It operates out there in the world, but it also speaks inside your head as self-doubt and fear. I spent years observing it quietly from cafes around the world, terrified that standing up to it would destroy what I had left.”
Phase 4: The Wizard Archetype & Call to Action “I don’t want to be a puppet/agent/soldier grinding away in someone else’s war, and I won’t be a slave in the corporate system. I choose to be a Wizard.
To me, the Wizard archetype is someone who uses unconventional tools—AI, data analysis, systems thinking, and fierce skepticism—to navigate a rigged world on their own terms. I’m Adi. On this channel, we’re going to dissect technology, geopolitics, and culture to break down how this system operates and how you can reclaim your energy, mind, and freedom. If you’re ready to stop operating on autopilot and start building your own adventure, subscribe. Let’s learn and play with magic.”
