Suggested Improvements — Week 7: The Listener

Questions for Personalization

  • When did you last change your mind because of something someone else said—not because you agreed, but because you actually listened?
  • What is the Question you are avoiding right now?
  • Who asks you questions that make you want to leave the room?
  • What did you hear in the silence after the Muse Question that you had not heard before?
  • Where are you still waiting instead of listening?

Suggested Improvements

  • Add a protocol for the “wrong question”—how to sit with a Muse output that misses without dismissing it.
  • Include a section on external listening: record a conversation and replay it, noting what you missed while planning your reply.
  • Expand the log with a check for one moment of genuine suprise in the Muse output.

“The Frère Antoine who came to the hospital every Sunday to play the organ in the little chapel was a particular friend of mine. It was the only chance I had those days to hear any music… I who am so fond of music!”
